HISTORY

Doridro Charity Foundation was founded by Mahbubur Rahman Shahin, a man with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the less fortunate in Bangladesh. From a young age, Shahin was passionate about helping those in need, particularly the elderly and homeless whom he often encountered on the streets or at railway stations. Despite the criticism and scolding from others, Shahin remained determined to give back to his community and find ways to serve his country.

Shahin’s dream to serve his country became a reality when he organized an education tour to the Kaptai hydroelectric power station, a feat that no one had accomplished before. This accomplishment earned him recognition and respect among his peers and teachers at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), where he was a student at the time. It was also during this period that Shahin met the secretary of a volunteer organization named “HELP” and was invited to attend an Iftar party with slum dwellers at Kamlapur Railway Station. It was here that Shahin witnessed the transformative power of volunteerism and became inspired to do more for his community.

Motivated by his experiences, Shahin joined the “AHOBAN” Youth Charity Foundation as a volunteer and began to think about how he could make a more significant impact on the lives of the less fortunate. With the support of his friends, he founded Doridro Charity Foundation on September 21st, 2011.

The first meeting of the organization was held on October 28th, 2011, at Rabindro Shorobar in Dhanmondi, where Shahin announced the first committee. Shahin became the president, Shanto Syeed the vice president, Khaled Masrur Manan the secretary, and Ashraf Uddin Tuhin the treasurer of the group. On the same day, they decided to donate winter clothes and comforters to poor people in Nilphamari, marking the beginning of the organization’s journey.
